L’appartement est situé près de l’endroit qui fait les meilleures brochettes de porc de la galaxie et vous comprendrez donc mon excitation à l’idée de pouvoir enfin aller en manger après plus de deux ans et demi. Malheureusement, même si le sympatique couple était encore en affaire, ils n’ont apparemment pas le droit de faire des brochettes le dimanche et le lundi. J’espère pouvoir y retourner avant notre départ de la Thaïlande. Nous sommes allés manger tout près de là (on trouve de la bouffe près de n’importe où ici) et ce fut tout de même très bon.

Puis, nous avons rencontré la famille de Rujira à 11:00. C’était vraiment bien de revoir sa grand-mère, son père et ses deux plus jeunes soeurs après si longtemps. Même si la barrière de la langue est toujours présente (mon thai est plutôt rudimentaire), j’ai l’impression d’être très apprécié et le sentiment est réciproque.

La journée fut tranquille et passée principalement à leur maison, un peu en retrait de Bangkok, après être allé au centre commercial acheter quelques essentiels. Le coin est calme, mais bien que ce soit techniquement l’hiver, il faisait vraiment chaud.

We spent the night at one of Rujira’s friends’ apartment. It had air-conditioned and I slept very well. I congratulated myself for deciding not to sleep at all the night of our departure. The next morning, I felt great and did not feel at all the jetlag.

The apartment is located near a place where they make the best grilled-pork brochettes of the entire galaxy and you will understand my excitement to finally be able to eat them again after all this time. Unfortunately, it turned out that even though the sympathetic couple was still in business, they somehow don’t have the right to make them on Sunday and Monday. I really hope to have the opportunity to return there before we leave Thailand. Instead, we went to eat nearby (we truly can find food everywhere here) and it turned out to be very good.

Then, we met Rujira’s family around 11:00. It was really great to see her grand-mother, her father and her two younger sisters again. Even if the language barrier is still there (my Thai is quite rudimentary), I feel that I am appreciated and it is reciprocal.

The day went quietly, mainly spent at their house, in the suburbs of Bangkok. We made a short stop at the shopping mall to run some errands. The neighbourhood is calm and even though it’s technically winter, it is still freaking hot.
